Eight compressor stations are named after 17th-century Cossack pioneers of the Russian Far East: Semyon Dezhnev, Ivan Rebrov, Pyotr Beketov, Maxim Perfilyev, Ivan Moskvitin, Vasily Poyarkov, Yerofey Khabarov, and Vasily Kolesnikov. Another station, located closest to Blagoveshchensk, is named Atamanskaya. This station covers an area of 12 hectares — five times larger than Red Square in Moscow.
